Mason jars are multifunctional containers that can be made into beautiful and simple home decors. They are better than tin cans because they don’t rust and can be cleaned with soap and water. Mason jars can be turned into a decor for any occasions whether it’s for a wedding, a party or just for daily use.
Here are several ways to upcycle your mason jars into something better!
1. Snow globes
Snow globes are pretty but they are very fragile. If the kids love snow globes, rope them in to make their very own snow globes by using mason jars. All you need to do is to help them attach small toys onto the covers and fill the jar with water and glitter. The handmade snow globes will be much sturdier and can’t be bought in stores! The tutorial can be found here.
2. Soap dispenser
For those who love to DIY, mason jars make good and unique soap dispensers for the home. The wide mouth of the jar makes it easier to top up liquid soap too!
3. Rustic vases
4. As luminaries
To make beautiful luminaries out of mason jars, stuff in fairy lights. It’ll look like a jar of fireflies when the main lights are turned off. This idea is perfect for Christmas or when you want to create a soothing ambience at night.
5. As nautical art
For a tropical and beachy vibe at home, the mason jars can be painted with drawings of sea creatures or seashells. Place some twigs inside the mason jar for a low maintenance. Another idea is to hang up mason jars with beach sand inside. The jars can be mounted on driftwoods for an authentic seaside property feel.
There are many ways to go about this. The jars can be just filled with seashells and put on display or twirl burlap string around the jars and glue seashells on it.
6. Halloween terrariums
While Malaysians don’t really go all out for Halloween, having some Halloween décor in the house wouldn’t hurt a bit. A unique Halloween décor will be a Halloween terrarium made out of mason jars. Put in some old twigs or wilting plants into an overturned mason jar and you have a Halloween terrarium ready!
