Let’s face the truth. Property prices in Malaysia has soared to mind-blowing high prices which we can’t afford to buy any more without additional help from our parents. Most of us here worked very hard to save money in order to purchase our dream home.
However, the reality is, we might not be able to buy a brand new house/condominium which is super expensive. Hence our only option is probably sub-sale house which cost relatively cheaper compare to a new unit.
Speaking from experience, I believe that every house can be beautiful, it only depends on whether its owner is willing to spend time and effort in renovating it to its fullest glory. Hence I’m sharing on how 7 simple ways can be utilize to renovate your home like a new one:
1. Install Flooring
There are many types of flooring out there such as Ceramic, Wood, Stone, Carpet, Vinyl and many more. Each flooring has different functions depending on which you preferred the most. For starters, most people usually go for laminate flooring because it is cheap and comes with enormous styles, patterns and colours.
2. Design Wall Decoration
Wall Decoration is one of the most active area in every house remodelling project. You can either opt for wall paint, decorative sticker or creative wallpaper on a single wall to bring out the biggest contrast within your home. However we don’t recommend decorating all of your walls because it will be too messy for your overall decoration.

3. Improve Lightings
One of my key learnings in interior design is proper lighting makes a lot of difference in your home decoration ideas. The most popular lighting nowadays is LED type as it is much more efficient and long lasting as compare to other types.
Remember to conduct some research on what kind of lighting you need at your home and ask for expert advise from a reputable lighting decoration shop before making your purchase.
4. Create More Storage
What makes a failed home decoration is having too many unnecessary items lying around the room. The best way to counter this is to create more storage by installing shelves, cabinets and storages in unexpected places. This would create a tidier and cleaner environment for your home while reducing clutter if planned properly.
5. Fix Window Blinds
Fixing window blinds is crucial if you want to create a complete makeover of your home. Toss those old fashion curtain out of the window and embrace the better, trendier window blinds.
Depending on your lifestyle, you can choose various designs of window blinds which suits your need and also to block those dangerous UV light off your home.
6. Buy New Furnitures
Accordingly to most interior designers, a furniture’s lifespan is around 3 years. By then, we will need to refresh the room decoration by introducing new furnitures with better quality or functionality. For instance, you can purchase a sofa bed which provide both function as a sofa and a guest bed.
7. Throw Away Old Junk
The hardest thing on this list is to throw away your old junk. You wouldn’t want to be a hoarder who keep all of the things in your house which is very bad for your home upkeep and tidiness.
Keep a list of what to throw and what to keep based on your needs. You can even donate your old things to charity houses where they will be more than happy to come over and collect them.
