Don’t be afraid. Help is at hand.
Choosing the perfect color scheme is easy, and you can pick a variety of hues that will complement and enhance the look of your home. By the time you get to the end of this post, you’ll know all that you need to know to put together a gorgeous color scheme.
This is a color wheel. It’s a great reference to use when picking colors. The first thing to do is the pick the main color. What’s the most important color you want to feature?
Complementary colors are always placed on the opposite side of the main color. If you pick blue, the complementary color is orange. If you pick yellow, the complementary color is purple. But wait, if you’re thinking, “but blue and orange sound so blah!”
Just use different hues of orange and textures. Orange can also be bright bronze, or deep gold. Navy blue can go with rust colored accents.
Triad colors are a bit more complex. Blue will go with yellow, and red. Refer to the color wheel above for a variety of shades that you can pick. Different hues of red, blue and yellow can be picked for different moods and effects.
If you’d like to pick a different color, just leave three colors in between each color you choose to see which are the triad colors that will match.
Analogous colors can be more cohesive, and less confusing. Simply pick three colors that lie in a row. Then just choose the shades of each color that you like best.
This is the simplest way to choose a color scheme.
