One of the best child activities we had growing up was building play forts and having adventures with them. It didn’t matter how we how it or with what, it is almost universal that at one point or another we’ve all made one.
Why not let your kids enjoy building their own? You could one out of almost everything, but if you need a little help why not check out this guide for helping your little ones put together a fantastic blanket fort with these four easy tips.
1. Create A Cool Entrance
An easy way to start is to create an exciting element, like an entrance. It might be secret, elaborate, or just really cool.
Maybe you have to crawl around the back and do a secret knock or shimmy through a dark tunnel made out of blankets before you get to the main space. Be willing to explore.
2. Add Mood Lighting
To add some extra effect, try adding some mood lighting. Having some Christmas lights or low light lamps can really add ambience to the fort.
The twinkling glow adds a touch of cosiness and adds to the fun. Flameless candles work well too. Don’t forget to pile in throw rugs and pillows for super snuggling.
3. Consider A Kit
Couches and chairs will always be key components, but a building set like the ones from a ‘professional’ set could bring the creation to the next level. A bit of a cheat, but hey, it’s less time building and more time playing!
4. Get Personal
Whatever you do end up doing, try to make sure that’s it has that personal touch. What makes these forts exciting is that they’re a space for kids to explore with their imagination.
That’s why it’s fun to customize them. You can even try Using fabric markers on old sheets to create stuff to hang up or make signs with leftover cardboard.
