If you’re bored with how the tables in your house look, consider covering the tabletop with beautiful tiles! The best part of this project is that you can design your tabletop any way you like it. At the end of the day, you’ll have a unique table designed by you.
Adding tiles to your tabletop isn’t much of hassle. All you need is a design in mind, the type of tiles you want to use and a strong adhesive glue. Depending on the table you wish to update, you may need to use hardware tools.
Square tiles are simple to put together in a grid. To make it interesting, have a set of different patterned tiles and arrange it in a sequence. After all, our eyes love seeing repetition in patterns. You can still break the rules and put all the different tiles together!
The square tiles can be used to cover small tables or low stools beautifully too. Just bear in mind, sitting on tiles can be really cold in an air-conditioned room!
While tiles are usually squarish, you can try covering the table with tiny mosaics. With tiny mosaics, you get to use different tile shapes and have more leeway to make the design that you want.
Make the table come alive by creating sceneries using different coloured mosaic tiles such as the townscape or a field of flowers.
If you want things a little more muted, use neutral coloured tiles such as white and beige tiles. Even though the tiles are very light, you can still create a pattern using different shades of the light tones.
To put a twist on things, you can even alternate the lines on the wooden table with tiles. And guess what? Yep, you can create sceneries again!
This tabletop looks like an overview of a beach. To show the waves, different shades of blue mosaics were used. The same went for the sandy beach.
If you’re still at a lost, you can combine both tiles and tiny mosaics like so! The colours used are so vibrant that it sets a cheery atmosphere although you’re just looking from a picture.
Feel free to share with us in the comments if you’ve seen interesting or beautiful tiled tabletops!
