Brighten Up The Home With These Pretty Floating Flowers And Leaves!

by Adeline

Bringing nature inside doesn’t require much preparation. Other than having houseplants in the home, these floating leaves and flowers frames make another good option. It can also be hung against the sunlight to create pretty shadows like a suncatcher. Best of all, it can be done by kids and also adults! Here’s how to make some of your own to display around the house, even in the bathroom.

Materials

  • Flower and leaves
  • Photo frames
  • Hot glue gun
  • 2 firebricks
  • Heavy books
  • A piece of fabric

Two Methods To Dry The Flowers

1. Dry flowers or leaves in a heavy book or weigh the book down with something heavy. The con is the flowers will lose colour after three weeks.

2. To get them dry and yet still retain colour, dry them in a microwave! Place a piece of fabric in between two firebricks and place the flowers on the fabric. Cover the flowers with another piece of fabric before putting the second firebrick on top. DON’T press down the top brick or it’ll crush your flowers! Microwave it for about 1- 3 minutes.

Time To Frame It!

1. Arrange the flowers on the glass of the photo frame.

2. Place another glass on top and hot glue it.

3. To hold flowers in place, place bricks on the glass lightly but not too many bricks or it’ll break the glass.

4. If you want your flowers to move between the glass, lay something lighter like a phone on the glass while the glue dries.

TWIST

Try using only leaves instead of flowers!
