It happens to us some time or another when you’ve burned the bottom of a pot or pan during an unfortunate incident while cooking.
It can really embarrassing, but have no fear as it is reversible. Here are simple ways to eliminate those dark marks. All you need is water and dishwashing liquid.
Fill your pot with hot water and add a few squirts of dishwashing liquid. Then place your pot filled with soapy water on the stove and bring it to a simmer.
Now let the pot simmer for about 15 minutes or more, depending on how much food is stuck on the bottom, and use a spatula to carefully loosen and coax the burnt-on bits off the bottom and sides as they soften.
Then, when all of the bits have been removed from the surface of the pot, it’s time to empty it and scrub it clean with a pad.
If you were using a stainless steel pot or pan, then try using a stainless steel cleaner to restore back the shine. Keep in mind that some discoloration may remain, depending on how badly the pot was burned, but it’s still safe to use.
