Living in the middle of a bustling city has its challenges, such as having to tolerate the high amount of air and noise pollution but Bahtera Associates has managed to create the perfect oasis for these homeowners. Known as Fitted House, it’s a small landed house that focuses on natural light and air circulation that makes it look bright and airy. This little house has all the creature comforts a modern home needs and is located in Bandung, Indonesia.
Exterior Area:
The facade of the building looks rather geometric due to its square shape which is only broken up by one window that is facing outside the house. The other openings are located at the sides and areas within the building that cannot be seen from the outside. The house has two floors and one mezzanine floor on top. Since it is built on a limited area of land, the design team had to plan the layout very carefully to ensure that the house doesn’t look too cramped.
Interior Area:
Hence, the furniture arrangement in the house is very important. Every piece is designed to fit in well based on the needs and area of the space. Although the height of the ceiling is only 2.4m for each floor, the spaces managed to look spacious. The second floor represents the core of the design concept where the natural light and air are centred here. The family room, bedroom and dining room use an open plan concept. For a more spacious look, one of the walls of the dining room uses mirror material while the dining table is floating. The family room and dining room are integrated with a void that is made with high doors that can be fully opened from top to bottom.
On the mezzanine floor, you can find the main bedroom here. There is a walk-in wardrobe that does not have any dividers so the space looks bigger. One of the sleeping area’s sides is made of full glass so that light and air can brighten up the bedroom. This large opening is optimum for observing every single activity in the house. The interiors are decorated with natural colours that are classic and timeless.
