As technology advances, many new innovations have been brought to the market, all of them aiming to improve our quality of life. And now, the highly anticipated Taiwan Excellence, the symbol of Taiwan’s highest honour for high-quality products, is coming back in Archidex in July 2023.
The Taiwan Excellence is bringing 10 award-winning brands that are creative and remarkable with the theme “Green Living”. These brands will exhibit their innovative solutions ranging from multifunctional convertible film, environmental-friendly and health-conscious paint, smart sanitary wares to self-controlled dimming windows and many more.
In conjunction with Taiwan Excellence’s upcoming exhibition at Archidex 2023, we at HomeDecoMalaysia had the opportunity to get together with two of the most outstanding brands and interview them about their solutions and how they can help consumers in their daily lives.
1. Hua Tsai Paints Co. Ltd. (Medusa Paints)
The first brand is Hua Tsai Paints Co. Ltd., which produces the Medusa paint brand. This company believes in honesty, responsibility and innovation when creating their products. Their specialty is in producing water-based, zero-formaldehyde, low-carbon, energy-saving, multi-functional stone-like coatings and other series of waterproof inorganic materials for coatings so that the building is well-protected and beautiful at the same time.
Johnson Chen, general manager of Hua Tsai Paints, introduced that they are focusing more on environmental-friendly solutions and have a professional R&D and service team ready to customise the coatings based on customers’ needs.
Can you give us a brief background of the company and how is it different from others?
We specialise in creating beautiful waterborne imitation stone paint coatings that can stand the test of time as Medusa is an “Expert in Construction Health and Preventive Medicine”. We care deeply for the environment, which is why we always take this concept to heart and create our products to be environmental-friendly. Our products help to waterproof the building’s structure at the same time which helps to save more than 50% of time and effort and prolongs the life of the structure.
Can you explain more about your featured product and how it enhances our lives?
Medusa is an “Expert in Construction Health and Preventive Medicine”. We care deeply for the environment, which is why we always take this concept to heart and create our products to be environmental-friendly. Our products help to waterproof the building’s structure at the same time which helps to save more than 50% of time and effort and prolongs the life of the structure.
This featured product that had won Taiwan Excellence Award is a non-toxic, odourless, safe, water-based formula that is easy to apply and use with cement. Known as i-Waterproof, Hua Tsai’s Medusa uses plant extract to produce this formula and we are the only one in Taiwan that has this product. The concept for this product came from ancient wisdom, where our ancestors waterproofed their buildings by mixing glutinous rice water, mud and sand to solve the problem.
This natural, non-toxic and stable liquid-type formula can be used in various places that need waterproofing such as swimming pools, walls, bathrooms and roofs. It can strengthen the building structure, avoid leaks and growth of wall mould and prevent cracks.
Our i-Waterproof received the Archidex Star Award during Archidex 2022. This year, Hua Tsai Paints Co. not only presents excellent waterproofing products but also showcases highly realistic imitation stone coatings.
How do we use this product?
It is simple to use, the i-Waterproof liquid can be diluted with water. One tin of i-Waterproof can be diluted with 6 times of water before it can be applied.
What are your main strategic objectives for the year ahead? Could you also share Medusa’s marketing strategy in Malaysia?
Currently, our products are exported to Southeast Asian countries such as Singapore and Cambodia. In Taiwan, construction companies have been using our products for a long time, with an increase of 200% in sales every year. However, the Malaysian market is also a very important place for us as Malaysia experiences heavy rain and high temperature. Our thermal insulation and waterproof composite materials are very suitable for local applications. Through our experience in Taiwan, we can copy it to Malaysia to effectively solve the local humid and high-temperature environment to build the best green buildings by working together with local dealers.
2. FERRO-CARBON Ent. Co. Ltd. (FECA)
The second brand to be featured is FERRO-CARBON Ent. Co. Ltd. They have over 30 years of experience in the building industry and are one of the leading manufacturers of hand tools. Focusing on innovation and R&D, they also market their homeware and suction cups through the brand FECA. This time, they will be showcasing two innovative products which we are going to discuss more below.
Can you give us a brief background about the company? How does FERRO-CARBON differentiate itself to deliver unique experiences?
FERRO-CARBON Ent. Co. Ltd. was established in 1989 and is certified by ISO9001, ISO14000, ISO45001 & SMETA. We are a professional manufacturer of tiling tools and suction cups in Taiwan. How does the product D42 Laundry Net Set enhance our daily lifestyle?
This stylish laundry net set comes with a lid and has strong suction power. - Clean: Clean the contact surface and rubber pad properly.
- Press: Strongly press and hold the suction cup for 2-3 seconds to remove the air underneath.
- Lock: Push down the lock while pressing on the cup.
- Check: Make sure it is firmly attached to the surface before use.
With the pop-up lid design and net bag, you can organise your home easily with no fuss.
What is the benefit of using suction cups vs drilling?
Compared with drilling, FECA suction cups is more convenient as you don’t need to damage your wall and it is also reusable. You can change the position according to your needs.

We plan to expand our global reach through online channels and use AI to provide our services. Also, we will attend exhibitions with TAITRA in Malaysia to educate more people about our quality products and teach them how to use the products to improve their quality of life.
